January/February 2021 – Gritting

When the temperatures start to fall, Highways work 24/7 to monitor the roads and their 23 gritters are sent out day and night when conditions dictate. Although public finances are stretched, they are committed to gritting key routes – that’s around 1,300 miles of roads – to help keep the county moving.

Problems can be reported via and you can also check out their interactive gritting map showing their first priority and second priority road gritting routes.
